At some point in our life we will all experience loss through the death of a loved one, friend, or someone we’ve known. But there are different kinds of losses, I think we’ve been a witness to that with the covid-19 virus. How could this happen so fast?
In the process of focusing on the deaths from this virus, I started having a conversation with God. How can we as followers of Jesus bring some hope to all the different people who are feeling the loss of joy, loss of hope, loss of jobs, and loss of life as we have known it here in America.
As I began to ponder the word of the Lord, peace entered my heart and I felt His love. Hope comes from Him and that never changes.
"Fear not, for I am with you:
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
- Isaiah 41:10
God uses suffering and difficult times to help us grow, grief teaches us valuable lessons about relationships with others and our hope and trust in God. He draws near to us and He is always willing to help during times of discouragement and loss.
“But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me.”
- Psalm 13:5
What does God want us to learn through the losses in my life and your life? For me, it’s that I can run to his word, pray, and be obedient to follow him!
To that end we have decided to be obedient to follow God’s leading with GriefShare. We can no longer wait for Covid-19 to be over. We have decided that we are meetings online using Zoom this Fall. This has enabled us to include people no matter where they are physically located and to open our hearts to comfort those who are grieving in isolation.
Help us spread the word to anyone that might need GriefShare. Register online at GriefShare.org or call the church office for details.
Blessings to you all and may the hope and love of our Savior Jesus Christ be with you and protect you!
