Worship Services:
Our Special Time of Praise and Instruction
Praising in Song
Dungeness Community Church enjoys a combination of traditional hymns and contemporary choruses. Our Sunday services begin with 25 minutes of singing praises to our Lord. We conclude our services with music. Hymnals and printed chorus sheets are used and there is usually a different mix of people and instruments weekly. The instruments include a mixture of grand piano, keyboard, guitars, drums, saxophone, violin and flute.
Praying Together
Prayer is a central part of worship and thoughtful effort is made to commit a portion of each Sunday worship service to the offering up of praise and petition to our Heavenly Father.
Preaching the Word of God
The preaching at DCC is centered directly upon the Scriptures and usually takes the form of a chapter by chapter exposition of the books of the Bible. Emphasis is placed on understanding what God has said in His Word and moving from that to life application. The constant goal of our preaching is that the Holy Spirit would transform lives, producing a Christ-like godliness in each worshiper.
Celebrating the Lord's Supper
On the first Sunday of each month, the DCC congregation celebrates Communion. We understand Communion to be a time of sober reflection on what Christ accomplished in the past when He gave up His life as the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins and died on the cross. But it is also a time of joyful celebration as it not only reminds us that we have been redeemed through Christ, but also allows us to fully anticipate yet another meal, marriage feast of the Lamb, when the Church, as the Bride of Christ, will commune with Him in His everlasting kingdom.
Giving of Tithes and Offerings
The giving of tithes and offerings is an important part of active worship and reflects Christian maturity. The giving of our offerings indicates thanksgiving for God's faithful provision and demonstrates a recognition that we are stewards of His resources, that all we have belongs to Him. We do not pass an offering plate during the worship service. Instead, offering boxes are located in the back of the sanctuary where the congregation may place gifts they brought to the Lord.
